ABU DHABI – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Saturday’s UFC 257 event.

The event took place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The main card aired on ESPN+ pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and early prelims on ESPN+.

In the main event, former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier (27-6 MMA, 19-5 UFC) met ex-lightweight and featherweight champ Conor McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) in a rematch from a 2014 fight won by McGregor. In the co-feature, former Bellator lightweight champ Michael Chandler (22-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his promotional debut against Dan Hooker (20-10 MMA, 10-6 UFC).

Amir Albazi vs. Zhalgas Zhumagulov

Round 1 – Albazi opens with a low kick attack on Zhumagulov, who is circling the octagon and looking to counter. He cracks Albazi with a 1-2 combination followed by another let hand. Zhumagulov is wining some big shots, but Albazi appears calm though the fire as he takes another left hand. Albazi comes forward and lands a pair of hard shots that move Zhumagulov backward. Albazi scores with another leg kick, and Zhumagulov responds with a hook to the body. Albazi changes levels and secures a takedown with just over two minutes remaining in the round. Zhumagulov instantly uses the fence to stand back up. They return to the striking exchanges from inside, with Albazi landing another solid low kick. Zhumagulov lands a nice spinning backfist on an incoming Albazi, who takes it without issue. Zhumagulov shoots or his own takedown with roughly 30 seconds remaining and gets it. Albazi fires of some elbows from bottom, but he’s stuck there until the bell. MMA Junkie scores the opening round 10-9 for Zhumagulov.

Round 2 – Albazi is going heavy on the low kicks to start the second round. Zhumagulov looks to time the counter, but he’s eating some good ones. He connects with a leg kick of his own, but Albazi is putting on superior pressure early in this round, landing another powerful kick to Zhumagulov’s legs. Zhumagulov scores with a nice jab then a leaning left hand. Albazi is backing Zhumagulov up near the cage, but Zhumagulov seems content to try to counter. They trade jabs to the body, and Zhumagulov lands a shot left before taking another leg kick from Albazi. Zhumagulov lands a stepping left hand, and Albazi kicks his lead leg again. They exchange some words after an exchange. Albazi scores with a stepping front elbow. Zhumagulov connects with an uppercut then shoots for a takedown that’s nicely stuffed by Albazi, who tries to get on top. Zhumagulov stands back up and takes a short punch just before the horn. Close round, but MMA Junkie scores it 10-9 for Albazi.

Round 3 – With the fight hanging in the balance entering the final frame, Albazi opens with a nice double jab. Zhumagulov is whiffing on his early shots and Albazi is pressuring. Zhumagulov gets some respect back with a right hand, then shoots a takedown that’s stopped. Albazi chases after him then scores a takedown near the fence. He settles in from the guard and lands a nice left elbow from on top. Albazi uses heavy top pressure and advances to side control. Zhumagulov gives up his back in attempt to stand up, but Albazi keeps on him for the time being. Zhumagulov attempts to scoot toward the fence, but Albazi secures the hooks and is looking for a rear-naked choke. Zhumagulov is doing well to hand fight, but precious time is coming off the clock as Albazi keeps fighting to secure the choke as the clock comes under 90 seconds remaining. Zhumagulov spins free with less than a minute let and is desperately moving forward to do something big. He lands a body kick then a left hand, and Albazi is staying mobile to try to avoid a big shot. Albazi lands a leg kick, then a let hand. Zhumagulov is trying to chase him down, but his range is just off as the final seconds tick off the clock. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Albazi, giving him the 29-28 victory on our scorecard.

Movsar Evloev vs. Nik Lentz

Round 1 – Lentz open the fight by kicking Evloev’s lead leg. He comes forward with a 1-2 combination that snaps Evloev’s head back. Lentz is applying a lot of pressure with the hands early before changing levels and pressing Evloev against the fence. He works for a takedown, but gets hit with a switch and it’s Evloev who ends up on top. Lentz goes for a guillotine choke from on bottom and is able to roll Evloev over and take top position. He can’t finish it, though, and Evloev rolls out nearly gets up, but Lentz still has him in a front head lock position. Lentz lands a knee to the head but then Evloev rolls backward and is able to scramble his way into top position again. Lentz grabs the neck and goes for the guillotine choke again. but Evloev stays calm and pops his head out. Evloev is on top, and manages to land a couple solid short punches on Lentz, who is trying to kick him off. He does so just before the horn. Very tough round to score, but will go 10-9 for Lentz on the MMA Junkie card.

Round 2 – Lentz lands a slapping head kick to start the round. Evloev is looking to pressure and get on the inside, but Lentz is doing well o keep him at bay with his hands. Evloev scores with a jab, then connects his best left hand of the fight so far moments later. Evloev is gaining confidence with his hands and is starting to tag Lentz with some good punches. Lentz lands a hard leg kick then just misses with a kick to the head. Lentz changes levels and goes for the takedown, but Evloev stops it after a brief struggle then gets one o his own. Lentz pops back up, but he’s being held against the fence by Evloev. Lentz lands a left hand on the break then another a moment later. Evloev is doing good work behind his jab, and hits Lentz with a solid uppercut. Lentz is chasing after the takedown again but Evloev keeps him away. Lentz is touching his own right eye as some swelling forms and he’s fighting hard to get a takedown. Evloev stops it, and Lentz drops down for yet another guillotine choke attempt. Evloev has it well scouted, though, and come out on top in a scramble. They return to the feet and Evloev lands a few short uppercuts in the clinch. Lentz lands a leg kick then goes for another takedown late, but Evloev stops him before the horn. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Evloev.

Round 3 – Lentz lands his left hand early then follows with a leg kick. Evloev is jabbing his face with frequency. Lentz responds with a jab of his own then a body kick. Lentz is trying to fight from the inside, but Evloev is being mobile and staying out of the way of big shots. He lands a body shot, then an uppercut on Lentz. Lentz lands a let body kick, then they exchange jabs. Evloev lands a nice inside right hand. Lentz shoots for a takedown at the midway point of the round, but he gets reversed on a switch. Lentz is still holding onto a leg, but Evloev stands up and backs away, landing a few short punches of the break. Evloev pumps the jab then scores with a solid right hook that backs Lentz up. He counters with another one of a Lentz kick attempt moments later. Evloev throws a head kick, then a spinning back kick to the body of Lentz. Evloev is pouring on the pressure and turning up the output in the late stages of the fight. Lentz is trying to fire back down the stretch, but Evloev hits him with some more good punches before the bell. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Evloev, giving him the 29-28 win on our scorecard.

Marcin Prachnio vs. Khalil Rountree

Round 1 – They trade range-gauging low kick attempts to start the fight. Rountree loads up on a big low kick that misses. Prachnio is pressuring near the fence and goes for a head kick that’s blocked. Rountree explodes forward with a combination, but it’s blocked. Prachnio goes or a big head kick that just misses. Prachnio is controlling the center of the cage, and Rountree is looking to counter. He scores with a left hand and Prachnio answers with a body kick. The early pace has settled a bit, and Rountree lands with a pair of straight left hands. Both men flurry, and Rountree gets a let hook through on the break, followed by a body kick. Prachnio attacks the body with a punch and a kick. Rountree lands a right hook then a body kick, which prompts Prachnio to land a body kick of his own. There’s a lot of heavy shots being thrown on both ends. Prachnio just misses on another head kick, then lends a tight right hand on the inside. Both men are standing right in front of each other throwing bombs. Rountree stomps the knee late in the round. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Prachnio, but it was close.

Round 2 – Prachnio lands a pair of body kicks early, but Rountree tag him with a good shot on the exit and backs him up. Prachnio throws back-to-back head kicks, but they’re both blocked rom landing clean. Rountree scores with a punishing body kick. Hi output is giving him a goo chance in this fight with Rountree’s counters behind just off range for the most part. Rountree starts to work behind the jab to the excitement of his corner, but he’s quickly lured into another exchange. Rountree lands a clean left hand, that somehow Prachnio takes without wobbling. Prachnio loops in with a left hand then connects with an inside leg kick. Prachnio lands a pair of side kicks to the body. Rountree gets his counter left through, but then eats a shot on the return. Rountree is landing the left at a solid rate as the clock ticks under 60 seconds. He cores a big right hand that drops Prachnio to a knee, but he bounces up only to tag a hard body kick. Rountree lands a nice stepping right elbows then they get into a wild exchange before the bell. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Rountree.

Round 3 – Prachnio goes big with a head kick to start the final frame, but Rountree has it well scouted. Rountree’s confidence is boosted after a solid second stanza, and he’s throwing the left and right with confidence. Prachnio shoots for his first takedown of the fight, driving Rountree into the fence. He gets shaken off, though, and they return to the center of the octagon where the striking exchanges resume. Both men are just off with the punches, but they’re standing right in the pocket. Prachnio is winging wild hooks as Rountree counters with his hooks. Prachnio has another takedown stuffed and Rountree lands a massive uppercut moments later that seems to get Prachnio’s attention. Prachnio is getting a little reckless and tiring, and he’s taking punches for it. It’s still a very close round, though, as the fight falls under 90 seconds. Prachnio is relentless with his output and is scoring with body punches and side kicks. Rountree lands a nice jab then a straight left. Prachnio is inside the pocket and throwing jabs, straights and hooks down the stretch on Rountree, who keeps trying to counter. The bell sounds. Another super close fight. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Prachnio, who wins 29-28 on our scorecard.

Sara McMann vs. Julianna Pena

Round 1 – McMann works behind the jab to start the fight then scores with a leg kick. Pena is gun-shy to stat the fight but lands a nice right hand in her first exchange of the fight. She’s feinting a lot, and it’s causing McMann to react. Pena now has McMann on the back foot but McMann comes forward with a fake takedown. She then throws a combination of strikes. McMann commits to her first takedown with less than three minutes remaining and gets it with easy. Pena gives up her back in attempt to get up, but McMann gets on top and puts a hook in as she tries to ride her opponent into the mat. McMann has the back and is working for a rear-naked choke. Pena fights hard to get up, but she’s dragged right back down to the mat. McMann settles in from top position and works to pass the guard. Pena closes the guard and throws some punches from her back. McMann creates some space and scores with a pair of short elbows. She stays there for the remainder of the round. MMA Junkie scores the opener 10-9 for McMann.

Round 2 – Pena is looking to pressure with her hands early on and McMann wants none of it as she changes levels for a takedown attempt. Pena falls back for a guillotine choke, but she doesn’t have a good angle on it and McMann is able to pop out of it. Pena throws some elbows from bottom and is throwing her legs up for a triangle choke or armbar. McMann is wise to it, though, and keeps her position strong. She postures up with an elbow, to the delight o her corner. Pena is very active with the strikes on bottom, but they don’t have much zip on them. McMann isn’t doing much from on top, and Pena scrambles to try to get up to her feet, but McMann steps over and takes the back again. She gets too high on the back, though, and is able to scramble up to a standing position. She’s still in McMann’s body lock against the cage, and is having a hard time breaking free. Pena lands a nice knee to the body, but she’s stuck against the cage. She finally gets out with about 15 seconds remaining, then pushes forward on McMann with the hands. Going to give that one 10-9 for Pena on the MMA Junkie scorecard.

Round 3 – Pena is moving forward and working behind the jab to start the final round. She has McMann backing up with her punches and initiates a clinch position with McMann against the fence. McMann is able to turn it around against the fence, though, but Pena surprises with a gorgeous trip takedown to land in side control. McMann gives up her back and eats a series of heavy shots as she’s turtled up. Pena steps over and gets full back control as she peppers McMann with short punches as the clock comes under two minutes. Pena is fighting for the rear-naked choke, and she has one arm under the neck. McMann is hand fighting to avoid the choke being fully locked in, but she sinks it under the neck and forces the tap. Nice work by Pena to get the submission.

Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Brad Tavares

Round 1 – Tavares is targeting the legs of Carlos Junior early on with his kicks. Carlos Junior is pressing forward and looks to place Tavares against the fence, but the Hawaiian breaks free. Carlos Junior shoots for another takedown in open space, but Tavares shows stellar defense, despite getting stuck against the fence. Carlos Junior has a body lock, but Tavares holds strong and eventually break free with less than two minutes remaining. Tavares continues to throw powerful leg kicks and mixes up the hands. Carlos Junior lets his punches go a bit before changing levels and pushing Tavares into the fence once again. Carlos Junior is trying all his tricks to put the fight on the ground, but he can’t do it. He lands a thudding knee into Tavares’ groin, and he immediately winces and the referee pauses the fight. The fight resumes a few moments later and Tavares lands some more leg kicks before the bell. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Tavares.

Round 2 – Tavares goes right back to kicking the legs of Carlos Junior to start the round. He lands a solid left hand early in the round, as well. Tavares is starting to do good work behind the jab, but he throws a lazy low kick and gets taken down. He scrambles urgently, though, and gets back up to his feet. Carlos Junior is still on him and he’s holding Tavares against the fence and throwing short rabbit punches from inside the clinch. Tavares eventually circles away, and immediately throws a leg kick. Tavares pumps the jab on Carlos Junior, who throws and lands a leg kick of his own. Tavares answers back with another low kick. Tavares is throwing nice punching combinations, and Carlos Junior is trying to fire back but is getting most of his stuff blocked. Tavares comes over the top right a right hand, and it prompts Carlos Junior to shoot for another takedown, but it’s denied. Tavares punishes him with another leg kicks, then comes forward and lands a super clean straight right that Carlos Junior doesn’t like one bit, and he dives in for a takedown. Tavares stuffs it, then kicks the Brazilian in the groin. A break in the action takes place, but Carlos Junior recovers and the fight resumes. They trade some punches, and the final couple seconds tick off the clock. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Tavares.

Round 3 – Tavares connects with a leg kick in the opening moments of the final round, then cracks Carlos Junior with a jab. Tavares is doing an exceptional job mixing up his punches and leg kicks, and it forces Carlos Junior to shoot for another takedown. He gets his hands locked around Tavares’ legs, but he still can’t get a takedown. Tavares’ takedown defense really on point tonight. It’s a beautiful thing. Carlos Junior is trying all the tricks to get it down, but Tavares keeps firm. The referee separates them from the cage and Tavares lands another jab and kick. Carlos Junior pushes forward with another takedown attempt, but he’s not even close and eats a leg kick for his trouble. Tavares lands a right hook then a left jab. He continues with a rinse and repeat attack, as Carlos Junior is forced to shoot another takedown with less than a minute remaining. He burns off the last of the clock pushing Tavares against the fence, and the fight is over. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Tavares, giving him the 30-27 sweep on our scorecard.

Matt Frevola vs. Arman Tsarukyan

Round 1 – The fight starts with a wild exchange between the two sides. Frevola gets a little too wild on a punch and Tsarukyan ducks under and secures a takedown. Frevola scoots to the fence and tries to stand up, but he gets tossed back to the ground. He tries to get a switch, but Tsarukyan is all over him and pulls him back down near the fence. Frevola finally stands up and frees himself of Tsarukyan’s grip. Tsarukyan pressures in open space and lands a slapping kick to the upper body of Frevola, who comes forward with a pair of winging hooks. Tsarukyan ducks under a punch or another takedown attempt, and Frevola tries to reverse it but they get clinched on the fence, where Tsarukyan lands a pair of knees to the body. Both men throw simultaneous spinning kicks in a wild sequence. Tsarukyan lands a hook, and Frevola comes back with one of his own that’s just shy of the target. They get into an exchange and Frevola tags Tsarukyan with a punch. Tsarukyan lands a hard punch but Frevola is staying in his face and lands a big overhand. They trade bombs to end the round, with Frevola shooting for a takedown in the weening moments, but it’s stuffed. Close round, but we’ll go 10-9 for Tsarukyan on the MMA Junkie scorecard.

Round 2 – Tsarukyan shoot for a takedown roughly 20 seconds into the round and is able to put Frevola down. Frevola gets up, but is dragged right back down from a body lock. Tsarukyan settles in to full guard, but Frevola is using his hips to try to make something happen from his back. Tsarukyan postures up and lands a couple short shots. Frevola spins out of the position and rises up to his feet, but Tsarukyan still has him wrapped up and is able to secure another takedown. Frevola battles mightily to stand back up, but Tsarukyan gets another nice trip and returns to top control. Tsarukyan has side control and briefly works toward a D’Arce choke, but he doesn’t have a good enough angle and gives up. Tsarukyan is chipping away with short shots from the half guard and is not giving Frevola much space. Tsarukyan dominates position from on top over the final minute. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Tsarukyan.

Round 3 – Frevola lands a straight right in the early stages of the round and that prompts Tsarukyan to shoo in for a takedown. He puts Frevola on his back, but only for a moment as pops back up and gets free. Tsarukyan lands an inside leg kick then evades a big right hand. Tsarukyan scores with a spinning back kick to the body, and Frevola tries to throw one back to the head, but misses. Tsarukyan connects on a jab, then a straight right hand. Frevola gets a jab though and he’s circling a lot. Tsarukyan shoots for another takedown, and it’s good. Frevola attacks with a guillotine choke from the back, but Tsarukyan has it well scouted and pops his head out. They get into a wild scramble and it returns to the feet. Tsarukyan lands a pair of nice jabs, then ducks under a winging punch from Frevola to get a huge slam. He quickly transitions to the back and is working for a rear-naked choke. Frevola is doing everything he can to get back up and get free, but Tsarukyan is all over him and not letting up from top position. Tsarukyan puts an exclamation point but moving into mount in the final seconds and keeping Frevola down and landing punches. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Tsarukyan, who wins 30-27 on our scorecard.

Amanda Ribas vs. Marina Rodriguez

Round 1 – Ribas is walking Rodriguez down to start the fight, throwing punches in combinations against her fellow Brazilian. Rodriguez appears to be looking for the counter shots and slips a right hand through the guard. Ribas lands a pair of jabs then an inside leg kick. Ribas secures a body lock takedown and lands in the guard of her opponent. She settles in and tries to create space for short punches, but Rodriguez is holding on and trying to tie her opponent up. Not much happens for the next couple minutes and Ribas tries to make something happen from on top, chipping away with short shots. That’s the scene for the rest of the round. MMA junkie scores the opener 10-9 for Ribas.

Round 2 – Rodriguez loads up on some big right hands to start the round then lands a knee from inside the clinch. Rodriguez lands a massive left that drops Ribas face first. She flurries on Ribas, who is hurt. She walks away before the referee officially stops it, though! He tells her to continue and Rodriguez comes forward with more punches then hurt Ribas from the feet, and the referee stops it in a standing position. Crazy finish!

Makhmud Muradov vs. Andrew Sanchez

Round 1 – Muradov lands a pair of hard kicks low on Sanchez’s legs early on then comes up the middle with one that just misses. Muradov steps in with a let uppercut and Sanchez tries to fire back with a head kick. Sanchez shoots for a takedown, but it’s easily stuffed and Muradov blasts him with a leg kick. Muradov comes over the top with a right hand that lans well. Sanchez scores with a jab. Muradov throws a wild punch-kick combination. He then scores with a nasty leg kick. Muradov is pressuring forward and Sanchez is trying to counter with a punches. Muradov lans another pair of leg kicks but then eats a right hand from Sanchez. Muradov starts to get a little sloppy with his punches and eats a combination for it. Muradov lands an overhand right over the guard of Sanchez, then has a leg kick attempt countered with a straight. Muradov just misses with an absolute bomb, and he’s going to the overhand right over and over. Muradov shoots for a late takedown, but it’s stuffed by Sanchez. MMA Junkie scores the round 10-9 for Muradov.

Round 2 – Sanchez lands a very nice right hand in the opening moments of the second round. He’s putting solid pressure on Muradov, who is struggling to find his range but lands a leg kick. Sanchez kicks Muradov in the groin, and there’s a brief break in the action. The fight resumes and he output slows a bit. Sanchez changes levels or a takedown against the fence, but he can’t secure the position. They break free and Sanchez counters a jab from Muradov with his right hook. Sanchez is staying in Muradov’s face with pressure and eating his punches without much issue. Muradov is working behind his jab more as the fight goes on. He ands a solid left hook, straight right combination that snaps Sanchez’s head back. Sanchez responds with his own punches. Muradov comes forward with perhaps the two cleanest shots of the fight as he slightly wobbles Sanchez. That may have stole the round for him, and it did on the MMA Junkie scorecard as we have it 10-9 for Muradov.

Round 3 – Both men are swinging to start the final frame. Muradov is starting to find great success with his right hand as it’s landing more an more as the fight continues. Sanchez is peppering him with the jab. Muradov JUST misses with a left head kick, then connects with the follow up right overhand. Muradov lands a solid uppercut, then scores with a vicious two-shot series to the body. Sanchez is trying to get some respect back, but Muradov is rolling at this point and as he lands another punch down the middle. Muradov lands an absolutely savage shot that huts Sanchez badly. He comes up the middle with a flying knee and Sanchez is badly hurt! Sanchez is staggered and Muradov flurries on him against the fence until the referee has seen enough and stops it! TKO finish for Muradov.

Joanne Calderwood vs. Jessica Eye

Round 1 – Eye rushes Calderwood out of the gate and they tie up n the clinch and exchange big shots. They tie up again, and Calderwood lands a pair of nice knees to the body. She lands a body kick after they break, then shoots in for a takedown that’s stopped. Calderwood presses Eye against the fence. and grabs ahold of a body lock. Eye punches her way into free space, then they step in the pocket and start to exchange again. Calderwood is landing some nice knees in the clinch and they are fighting in a phone booth early on. Eye is the one who tries to work against the cage now, but Calderwood won’t give up a takedown. They clinch up again, with Eye throwing punches inside and Calderwood attacking with the knees. Eye pushes Calderwood against the fence again and starts teeing off with some uppercuts. Calderwood makes her pay with a pair of knees, followed by a nice lead straight off the break followed by a low kick. Eye seems content to force her way into the clinch and dirty box. Calderwood just misses on a head kick, and Eye clinches up with her again. Eye scores with an uppercut and a pair of body punches. Calderwood answers with a body and leg kick. They trade down the stretch in a very tough round to score. MMA Junkie scores it 10-9 for Calderwood, but could go either way.

Round 2 – Calderwood opens with a body kick. Eye steps inside and continues to try to bully her opponent from inside the clinch, but Calderwood seems comfortable with the physicality and pressure as she constantly fires back. Calderwood trips Eye to the mat, but backs off and allows her to stand back p. Calderwood works punches to the body and head from inside the clinch, and Calderwood is firing back with her short shots and knees. Eye rips a combination to the body, then tags Calderwood with a straight right. She forces the clinch again, and Calderwood makes her pay with two hard knees to the head. Calderwood lands a nice left body kick off the break. They continue to stand right in front of each other and trade punches and kicks. Neither is landing with enough power to deter the other from that approach. Eye jabs the body, and Calderwood comes back with a kick the body. They trade knees in the clinch as the clock ticks under a minute. Calderwood overcommits on a spinning elbow and Eye ducks under for the takedown. She hols on to Calderwood near the fence for the remainder o the round, but doesn’t throw anything or do damage. Another tight round, but inclined to give Calderwood another 10-9 on the MMA Junkie scorecard.

Round 3 – Calderwood opens the final round with a body kick and Eye immediately clinches up and pushes her against the fence. Eye is working hard to drag the fight to the mat, but Calderwood shows good balance with her back against the cage and is resisting being pulled down. Calderwood is having a difficult time circling free, and the referee finally breaks them up at the midway point of the round. Calderwood lands a hard body kick and a straight punch. Eye shoots for another takedown, but it’s denied by Calderwood. Calderwood clinches up and lands a pair of knees to the body. She lands a straight punch after the brea, forcing Eye to dive in on the legs, but to no avail. Calderwood returns to the clinch and lands some more knees to the body, while Eye tries to punch back. Calderwood pushes Ee up against the fence and lands another knee to the body as she moves away. Calderwood lands a body kick then stops a late takedown rom Eye in the final seconds. It’s another 10-9 round for Calderwood, and she wins a 30-27 on the MMA Junkie scorecard.

Michael Chandler vs. Dan Hooker

Round 1 – Chandler tries to push Hooker outside and is right in his face. Then he stops to reset 30 seconds in wondering if Hooker is going to engage. Hooker stays patient outside, then tries a couple kicks. Chandler punches to the body, then tries it again. More kicks from Hooker, but Chandler keeps pushing him outside. Chandler lands a kick, then a punch up top and has Hooker on his bike. After a reset, Hooker lands a solid kick. But seconds later, Chandler lands a big bomb of a left hook. Hooker hits the canvas, and Chandler pounces. Hooker covers up, but Chandler is relentless. He blasts him with about a dozen right hands, and the ref jumps in to shut it down. Chandler jumps on the top of the cage, then does a huge backflip into the center. It’s a huge first-round knockout debut for the former Bellator champion.

Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor

Round 1 – Here we go ladies and gents. The fighters touch gloves when brought together by Herb Dean. The fight is on. McGregor marches forward. They exchange. Poirier ties up McGregor – and gets a takedown. Wow. That didn’t take long. McGregor slowly scoots himself to the cage and gets up. He reverses Poirier in the clinch along the fence. They exchange shoulder strikes – like McGregor hit Cerrone with. McGregor resorts to it two more times. Poirier reverses McGregor against the fence. They trade knees in the clinch. Poirier has a left undertook. McGregor, with his back against the fence, lands a hard knee to Poirier’s body – and twice more. Poirier is really committing to a single leg takedown. McGregor has good wrist control. He reverses Poirier again. They’re talking to one another. McGregor stomps Poirier’s foot. McGregor lands a hard elbow and the clinch is broken. Back in the center, the lightweights trade. Poirier half-heartedly shoots but pulls up. McGregor fees him a jab and lands a hard combination. Poirier looked stunned for a brief second. Poirier throws a wild combination, which misses. McGregor follows up with more strikes. Poirier connects with a leg kick. A hard left lands for Poirier. That one was hard and Poirier pointed at McGregor. Poirier lands another kick. McGregor tries a spinning kick to the head, which misses. They trade and the round ends. Well, that was fun. 10-9 McGregor.

Round 2 – McGregor absorbs a low kick to land another hard combination. Poirier is back up against the fence. McGregor lands a leg kick of his own. Poirier throws a kick and McGregor catches it. McGregor lands a hard punching combination. Poirier absorbs another hard leg kick. McGregor needs to check these. He’s relatively fine now, but not sure how many he wants to take. McGregor keeps catching Poirier’s kicks. He feeds Poirier a left hand. Poirier lands a jab and a left hand. Another leg kick lands for Poirier. A massive pair of left hands misses Poirier’s chin. Poirier lands a leg kick. McGregor is hobbled. Poirier senses it. He lands a serious series of punches. McGregor is hurt. He’s hurt. McGregor is rocked. Poirier is going for the kill. Poirier connects on another punch and McGregor is floored. Poirier pounces and puts McGregor out cold. Holy smokes. Dustin Poirier has knocked out Conor McGregor – six years after their initial meeting.
